EM4305 Chip Description

The EM4305 is a CMOS integrated circuit for electronic Read/Write RF transponders, suitable for low-cost solutions such as animal tagging applications. The IC operates by harvesting energy from a continuous 125 kHz magnetic field through an external coil, combined with an integrated capacitor to form a resonant circuit. The IC reads data from internal EEPROM and transmits it by switching a resistive load in parallel with the coil with a large modulation index. Commands and EEPROM data updates can be executed by 100% AM modulation of the 125 kHz magnetic field. The EM4305 supports bi-phase and Manchester data encodings. The EM4305 operating mode is stored in an EEPROM configuration word. All EEPROM words can be write-protected by setting the protection bit. The IC contains a 32-bit unique identifier (UID) programmed at the factory.
